Digital X-ray Apparatus for Chaujahari Hospital

In October 2011, our technician Klaus Berger went to Nepal for three weeks to visit the Chaujahari missionary hospital in a remote place far away from Kathmandu. There is no infrastructure and electricity provided by emergency generators is only available for a few hours every day. The roads are merely tracks, and there are hardly any automobiles. The small greenfield airport offers the fastest and easiest connection to Kathmandu with a flying time of about 1.5 hours. The hospital has 45 beds serving an area with approx. 700,000 inhabitants. The walk to Chaujahari missionary hospital takes about 2 to 5 days. The hygienic problems and the poverty of the people are beyond belief.

We altered and repaired the x-ray apparatus and much improved its image quality in 2009. In 2011, we were able to install and commission a digital image processing system developed by Carestream Health. Storing film and the changing developing conditions are now a thing of the past and the image quality has been improved again considerably.

We are pleased with the successful installation and are glad to have been able to help improve the hospital care. We thank Chaujahari hospital for their kind message sent to us following our visit. Please read here.
